Whether you call them potato pancakes or fritters, these crispy delights are perfectly complemented by the sweetness of carrots!
Steps:
1. Start by peeling the potatoes and carrots. Keep going!
2. Grate each half roughly or finely - be careful with your fingers!
3. Quickly peel the onions and chop them into fine cubes.
4. With well-washed hands, mix together the grated potatoes and carrots, onion pieces, eggs, flour, nutmeg, and salt to form a dough.
5. Heat the oil in a pan until it's very hot before adding the first fritter mixture—use a spatula for safety. Press the batter flat, and ensure it's no more than about 1 cm thick. Gradually add more fritters in the pan and let them crisp at medium heat. Afterward, flip them and fry the other side as well. This can take about 10 minutes.
6. Serve your wonderful fritters in the traditional way with tasty apple sauce. Tip: Make a few extra fritters to enjoy cold the next day – they also taste great topped with ham.
