Rakott krumpli is a traditional Hungarian dish made of layers of boiled potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, sour cream, sausage, and onions, baked in the oven until golden brown.
Steps:
1. Peel and thinly slice 1.5 kg of potatoes.
2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
3. We grease a flat, heatproof dish with butter. Slice half of the potatoes and place them on the bottom, sprinkle lightly with salt, mix gently, and smooth it out. Arrange the egg and sausage slices evenly on top, then spread half of the sour cream over it. Slice the remaining potatoes and arrange them slightly overlapping on top. Cover evenly with the remaining sour cream.
4. Season with salt, pepper, and your choice of herbs.
5. Repeat the layers until all potatoes are used, finishing with a layer of potatoes on top.
6. Pour 500ml of cream over the potatoes.
7. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake at 180°C for 40 minutes.
8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
9. Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.
